In 1987, Nicola finished college where she had been studying to become an Accountant (just as Alan had been). This gave Alan and Nicola the opportunity to go and visit Alan's cousin (Val) and her family in Michigan and see some of the rest of America (New England and DisneyWorld in Florida). This trip reconnected the family across the pond and many happy vacations were spent with family after this.
